Travel Information
The County of Hertfordshire is served by major road and motorway networks, with four of the UK's international airports within easy reach. University and public bus services connect the campuses, local town centres and railway stations.
The University of Hertfordshire at Hatfield is situated 3 miles north of the London orbital (M25) at junction 3 of the A1(M) and is easily accessible by road, rail (Hatfield or Stevenage stations) and air (Luton, Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick).

Public Transport
The University is an 8 minute bus ride from Hatfield station (bus no. 603, 341, 641). Services (WAGN) from Hatfield station run into London Kings Cross (22 mins) and Moorgate (40 mins).
There are also local services from Cambridge and Peterborough. Direct local trains between Hatfield and Stevenage (15 mins) connect with Intercity services to and from the North and Scotland.
The University can also be reached via St Albans City station and a 16 minute bus ride (bus no. 602, 655). Services from St Albans City station (Thameslink) connect with Kings Cross (25 mins), Luton (15 mins), and Bedford (35 mins).

Air Travel
(In the following, possible arrival routes by public transport are explained. If you use your own car, please refer to the maps.)
Via Stansted Airport:
The most convenient way to get to Hatfield is by coach, but there is also a train connection.
By coach: From Stansted airport, there are direct coaches to the University of Hertfordshire, College Lane Campus. Two bus lines serve that route, Line 757 (to Oxford) and Line 717 (to Brighton). Travel time is 45 minutes. Each line runs approximately two-hourly during daytime. To see the exact bus times from Stansted to UH, check the National Express Timetables, with start and goal locations Stansted Airport and Hatfield.
By train: Theoretically, the travel should take 1:15 hours, but one should take into account possible delays and waiting times. Take the Stansted Express towards London. In Tottenham Hale station, take the Piccadilly Line (underground) westbound to Finsbury Park station. From Finsbury Park station, there are regular trains to Hatfield station. See the on-line timetable service for exact times. From Hatfield Station, one can take a cab (e.g. 01707 890095 or 07957 645188) or a bus to the University of Hertfordshire. Line 602, in the St. Albans/Watford/Borehamwood/London Colney direction, goes to the university, ask if in doubt. During the day, there is also a fast connection from the train station to the University campus via the 603 bus line.
Via Heathrow Airport:
By coach: There is a direct coach connection, line 717, which connects Heathrow Airport directly to the College Lane Campus of the University of Hertfordshire. Travel time is 55 minutes and they run approximately two-hourly during daytime. To see the exact coach times from Heathrow to UH, check the National Express Timetables, with start and goal locations Heathrow Airport and Hatfield.
By train: Take the Heathrow Express to London Paddington. From Paddington take the underground to London Kings Cross. From London Kings Cross take the train to Hatfield. The journey time should be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. See the on-line timetable service for exact times.
From Hatfield Station, one can take a cab (e.g. 01707 890095 or 07957 645188) or a bus to the University of Hertfordshire. Line 602, in the St. Albans/Watford/Borehamwood/London Colney direction, goes to the university, ask if in doubt. During the day, there is also a fast connection from the train station to the University campus via the 603 bus line.
Via Gatwick Airport:
By coach: There is a coach connection, line 717, which connects Gatwick Airport to the College Lane Campus of the University of Hertfordshire. Travel time is 2.5 hours and they run approximately two-hourly during daytime. To see the exact coach times from Gatwick to UH, check the National Express Timetables, with start and goal locations Gatwick Airport and Hatfield.
By train: From Gatwick Airport it is possible to take the train via London to Hatfield. From Gatwick airport take the train to Victoria and then the underground (e.g. Piccadilly line) to Finsbury Park. From Finsbury Park take the train to Hatfield.
